"County Line Waltz" is one of the first tunes I wrote with this band in mind, before I got the idea to write words and sing with the group. Somehow that led this song to be one of the most jazz heavy tracks on the record. It’s a fairly simple composition, but there are some tricky rhythmic things to negotiate at the end of the solo section, and there are a few free moments where almost anything can happen. MYK and drummer Carlo Costa always surprise me there. I love playing with musicians who bring something new to every performance.
