about

"Ise'-No-Umi" is a piece from the great tradition of royal Japanese Court music that I transcribed off a collection of field recordings called “The Secret History of Mankind”. I first heard that amazing compilation while shutting down my favorite bar in Brooklyn, Barbès, with resident bartender/musicologist, Quince Marcum. My hope is that this song will be a surreal moment in the record like a scene two thirds of the way into a David Lynch movie when a curtain is peeled back to reveal some sort of strange fantastical underbelly.
